I have opened a GM ticket, and will edit this comment after I get a response. I bought the egg on Monday, and the duration was 7 days as expected. On Tuesday, roughly 24 hours later, it said 6 days , and seemed to be working fine.
A day later on Wednesday however it says 7 days again, which means I have effectively lost two days of the hatching period. If you encounter a similar problem, this comment might be of use to you once I've edited it with a GM response. EDIT: November 28th - 3. Other than that he offered absolutely no advice whatsoever. Basically all you can do is wait, and hope the timer runs down. My egg seemed to have fixed itself yesterday, and the duration had gone down to 4 days.
Today, my timer duration should show 3 days actually 2, but I've lost a day somewhere , yet it's gone back up to 7 days. All in all it seems the "egg timer" seems to have some very complicated issues. I too am hoping they're simply cosmetic and in the tool tip display, and not in the egg itself. I switched to Frenzyheart then back don't ask why But I could open it when it was rep left to Revered. The reputation requirement disappear when the duration has disappeared. We all buy our eggs every week and if we get a duplicate pet someone else in the club that hasn't gotten the pet gets it.

I got my proto-drake so I decided to swap to Frenzyheart Tribe for achievement, I bought egg before swapping thinking that I'd get extra hatch for fun while grinding Frenzyheart to Revered for equivalent but doesn't work that way. I have the riding skill and I'm exalted with the oracles. Ive been through four eggs already and nothing in the mount department hatched. Comment by Sedirex If you get the Drake and still need the rest of the pets, the smart thing to do would be to not click and learn the Drake, as this would eliminate the small possibility of getting a second before you're done with the Oracles the Reins are unique. Of course, good luck having the self-restraint to not ride a giant green dragon, but I only said it was smart, not easy.
